SYLAP 2016 will be held from June 18 until July 30.  We hope you will join us!

The Shoshone/Goshute Youth Language Apprenticeship Program (SYLAP) is a 6week summer program for tribal youth hosted by the University of Utah’s Shoshoni Language Project.  It offers students the opportunity to:

  • • begin learning their heritage language in a forcredit university course,
  • • work as a paid intern on language documentation and revitalization projects,
  • • live on a university campus and learn about going to college.
If you are high school sophomore, junior or senior at the time of application and are connected in some way to a Shoshone tribe, we encourage you to apply!

Please be aware that the application requires recommendations and transcripts.
Note:  Former SYLAPers who wish to return next summer should email for more information and an application:  ShoshoniLanguageProject@utah.edu.
